Get Your Kids Excited to Dig Deeper into the Bible!

Bible study is not only an important part of our day but one that my kids enjoy. I try hard to find Bible studies and activities that will keep them engaged and learning. We were so excited to receive Bible Investigators: Creation written by Danika Cooley. This book is full of puzzles and activities for children 8-12 years old. Psst…I let you know that my 13-year-old is enjoying doing the activities alongside her 8-year-old brother.

If you don’t know Danika Cooley, let me suggest you check out her blog. If you are looking for activities, crafts, books, and other great resources on teaching the Bible to kids Danika has you covered! I would also suggest signing up to receive her newsletter, she sends great information and free resources.

About Bible Investigators: Creation

The Bible Investigators: Creation book is an amazing workbook to help your child observe, interpret, and apply God’s word. As a parent I was so exctied when this book arrived and was even more excited when I began to look through and saw all it covered. The book aims to have your child explore the Creation by being a Bible Investigator.

The book is divided into six sections. They are as follows:

  • Section One: God Created Everything in the Beginning
  • Section Two: The Story of Creation
  • Section Three: God Made Me
  • Section Four: Our Creator God
  • Section Five: God’s Good Creation Gifts
  • Section Six: God’s Great Salvation Plan

Through the book are sections labeled My Investigator Notebook, this is where your child can write or draw their observations or responses to questions about the scriptures. The activites and puzzles range from mazes, crosswords, cryptograms, rebus puzzles, and so much more! While my son is the one that is using the physical book, I am able to download the puzzles and some other great free resouces using a link provided in the book for my daughter. **The Book does state it uses an ESV Bible for the verses, I don’t have that physical Bible so we just used the Bible app on my phone and mirror imaged it to the tv screen for the kids to read/copy.**

We have been using the book during our morning Bible time. We are doing about one puzzle or activity a day (there is no set schedule so you can do this at a pace you or your child choose). This works best for us because I feel it gives good time for discussion and helps my children to focus on the verse being worked on. This is different from other Bible curriculums we have used during our Bible time but I like that there is room for children to write down their own thoughts and for them to think about what the verse means. My son will complete the puzzle but at times he will dictate his responses to me for the investigator notebook sections. This is a great way to help them learn how to study the Bible in a fun and creative way!
