God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust ~ Movie Review and Giveaway

It’s been a while since I’ve been excited to see any movies at the theater. I can remember seeing the trailer for God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust a few months back and being pretty excited. Did you know that Gods Not Dead is the most successful faith franchise of all time? Well, it is and it has grown to five faith-based films! I was so excited to get an advanced screening of God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust. The movie is in theaters Sept. 12th in association with Great American Pure Flix and Fathom.

The film is engaging with a captivating story and has a renowned cast that keeps the whole family entertained allowing families and friends to discuss how to engage in this current political climate with courage. The film stars David A. R. White (GOD’S NOT DEAD, Evening Shade), Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) Dean Cain (Lois & Clark), Samaire Armstrong, (The O.C.), Ray Wise (ROBO COP), Scott Baio (Happy Days), Charlene Tilton (Dallas), with guest appearances by Governor Mike Huckabee and Newsboys.

About the film:

In a time of profound political, civil, and spiritual turmoil, Reverend David Hill grapples with a crucial question: Does God still have a place in politics? Following the unexpected death of a favored congressional incumbent, David feels compelled to enter the race, challenging the increasing efforts to remove religious influence from public policy. Facing off against state senator Peter Kane, a formidable opponent determined to create greater division by pushing religion out of the public square, David must navigate the treacherous waters of modern politics, where his faith, optimism, and principles are put to the ultimate test. As he confronts adversaries from his past and faces relentless scrutiny, David’s campaign becomes a beacon of hope for many who yearn for spiritual and moral leadership in a divided nation. God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust explores the enduring relevance of faith in public life and the fight to keep religious values at the heart of governance.

My Thoughts

I need to be honest, so first you must know that I have seen all the films released from the God’s Not Dead franchise and that I am a fan of each one. I remember sitting in the theater when the first one was released in 2014 and immediately posting #GodsNotDead on my social media pages. Firstly, the cast is great, I loved seeing old favorites (David A.R. White, Dean Cain, and of course The Newsboys!) but then other favorite actors such as Scott Baio.

The story was very well written. You may grumble at the sound of a political movie, especially during an election year but this movie is really good and the message is important. While the movie doesn’t mention any current political parties or names, it does focus on the reality of in the past two election cycles, woke politics and cancel culture have discouraged the faith base from taking a stronger stance and voting. God’s Not Dead: In God We Trust is parallel to what we are seeing in this year’s election – the complex relationship between faith, politics, and our civic responsibilities.

In a society focused on democracy, representation, and equality, it’s alarming that 40 million Christians do not vote, 25 million are registered, but don’t vote, and 15 million aren’t even registered. (repeat: 40 million Christians) This fact absolutely boggled my mind! No wonder God is being removed from our government, we as Christians are not getting involved. These compelling statistics should motivate people of faith to understand the significant influence of their collective voices and the critical importance of participating in this election year.

The message of faith is very poignant in this film. Pastor Dave reminds us that we have the greatest blessing in that we are children of the Living God, and as Americans, the greatest title in the world: citizens of the United States of America. Most importantly, this film that demonstrates Christians should be optimistic, excited, and hopeful about the future. But we do need to get involved and be involved. It’s unfortunate that politics have become very divisive and focused on ruining a person’s character rather than the real issues at hand. This movie addresses this and I like the way Pastor Dave responds.

So, go out and see this movie! Get encouraged to be informed and involved in this year’s election!! Voting does matter!!
