My daughter and I have been fans of Anne Wilson since we first heard her song My Jesus from her first album. Recently, I was listening to my music streaming service and a song called “The Cross” came on. I immediately thought, I like this song and quickly looked to see that Anne Wilson and Chris Tomlin were the singers of the song. I began to add that song to my playlist.
When the opportunity came to listen to Anne Wilson’s new album REBEL and share my thoughts, I was so excited! I will be the first to admit I am not a fan of today’s country music. If I listen to country music it is from the 1990’s or earlier. But I am a big fan of Christian music and I listen to many different genres in the Christian music field. REBEL
REBEL is the sophomore album for PLATINUM-certified, GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter Anne Wilson. The album is 16 tracks that blends Christian and Country Music released on April 19th. My Thoughts and Favorite Songs
Run! Run, don’t walk to the store and get this album!! If you aren’t streaming this yet on your preferred streaming music platform, do it NOW! I have several favorite songs, each time a new one played I claimed it was my favorite. I have several I play on my phone and literally know the words to already. Once my daughter heard me listening to it, she began streaming Anne Wilson in her room. We then started talking about the new songs. Let me tell you, my daughter will say she is not a fan of country music but she likes Anne Wilson.
Okay so let me tell you a few favorite songs.
- Dirt Roads in Heaven — So this one just hit me as like Anne, I lost my brother. I am the older sister but sibling loss hurts no matter who is younger or older. This song made me think of summers at our grandparents, riding down the dirt road on the three-wheeler or just running up and down the road. I often think of my brother running around the fields in Heaven, the wind in his hair, barefoot, and joyful.
- Praying Woman — This is something I can relate to, those mornings before everyone wakes up spending time with God.
- Rain in the Rearview — Another one that just reminds me of how Jesus helped me through the hard times.
- Songs About Whiskey — So I have to tell you when I first saw this title I was like “What?” I was really hoping for a Christian album. This is a fun, upbeat song that I now sing along with and I love the message.
- The Cross — This is the first song I heard on my streaming device before I began to review this album and I was drawn to it immediately.
- Strong – Reminds me of where my strength comes from all the time.
