Stepping Back in 2025

Another year has passed. Another year of ups and downs. Another year of learning. So much learning. No matter how old you get, there is always something new to learn. I am not a resolution maker (I don’t think), in the past I have done a word of the year and made goals. I can usually reach my goals…well, all except my reading goal 🫣. I always start off well but somewhere down the line I seem to drift off into other things. As I look at this fact, I can see that all comes down to being wise. Not in the intelligence manner but wise as in using good judgment.

Recently, my husband and I have been talking about our lives several years ago. About how much we would get done and how satisfied we were when we would work so much with our hands. Granted, there were many times we didn’t have any other choice than to do things by ourselves. Many things were a necessity, such as getting food for our family by hunting (my husband), foraging and gardening. We raised animals for food, processed the animals ourselves, we cooked from scratch, and canned our food. At this time we both feel God is calling us back to being more connected to His creation and Him through this type of lifestyle. When we engage ourselves in these activities we found ourselves giving God thanks and glory for all He provided us. We also had more contentment in our lives and for all we had.

So in 2025, we will be stepping back to those ways and more that will bring us closer to God. We will be most likely be doing things that the “world” will see as outdated or a waste of time. I am not saying there is anything wrong with having something new or something that makes a task easier. But if that new thing pulls you away from God then I would probably re-evaluate its purpose. Our big goal for this year is to draw nearer to God by listening to Him and following His path for our lives.
