The word toward gives me the vision of an action. It is a choice we make, we choose the direction we wish to go. When I was younger this vision was very self-centered. My goal was to run towards that which fulfilled what I felt was a sense of worth. Getting my degree, getting a state certificate, getting a job as a supervisor or administrator. I ran towards all these things thinking it was going to give meaning in my life. But these things are easily lost. I still have my degree but the classes no longer qualify me to obtain the state certification it once did. I no longer work as a supervisor or lead teacher.
BUT…
Thankfully, in my quest to run towards my “goals” I found something worth going toward. Jesus. The more I learn about God and read His word, the closer I get to Jesus. Each day I am still choosing to go toward Him. I know that He can not be taken away from me. Even when it is hard, and some days are hard, I will continue to set my path toward Him.
Today, I had a conversation with my daughter. And while all the particulars are not going to be shared here, the one thing she said that made me happy was that her goal is to be closer to Jesus. To learn more about Him. I can’t say that was my goal at 14 and to hear her say that really puts so much into perspective. We all at times get caught up running towards what the world wants us to get caught up in. Sometimes I do too, but hearing the words from my daughter reminded me the goal is to always be moving towards Jesus and the cross.

What a blessing to hear those words from your daughter! You are obviously a wonderful role model to her!
