If you follow any of my social media accounts you are bound to see that we have a couple dogs. When my husband and I bought our home it was not long before we started adding dogs into our family. That is exactly what our dogs are, they are a part of our family. Recently, we experienced heartache with the loss of our sweet miniature dachshund. Schultz was a part of our home for almost 15 years, he passed away just shy of his 15th birthday. It was around this time that I was given the opportunity to review the book If You Could Ask Your Dog One Question… by Kim Messina. I will say that this book really helped me with the healing process after losing my sweet boy.

About The Book
How many times have you looked at your dog and asked them a question? How many times do you wish you could ask them a question and have them answer you. I know several questions run through my head now that my dog has passed away, such as ‘What did you like better winter when you hopped in the snow or the summer when you lay by my feet in the grass?‘

Schultz
This book touches on the sweet bond people and dogs have with each other. The illustrations are by Nataliia Pavliuk and they are so sweet and happy. They fit the story in such a great way, they are not overpowering on the page, they complement the words. The book I received was hardcover and the pages were of great quality. Each page in the book states a question one might have for their dog, this could be a fun discussion to have with your kids. Questions such as ‘What causes all those zoomies? and ‘Do you know how safe I feel, when you sleep with me at night?’ There is even space at the beginning of the book for your own question to your dog.
This book would make a great gift for a child. It’s fun and inquisitive. While the book was written in memory of the author’s dog, there is no mention of a dog passing away in the book. So you won’t need to worry about any sadness or moments of grief. I personally think it just shows the deep bond we have with our dogs.
