Verse Of The Week {Isaiah 40:8}

It has been a couple years since I shared a verse of the week, but I am trying to get back into the habit of blogging. Even though many people turn less to blogs now that social media has become the platform giant for sharing. Writing also helps me look deeper into things and is a way of journaling my thoughts. This verse is my favorite, it has been my favorite for a long time. It is a verse that puts me at ease knowing God is the same today, as He was in the past and will be in the future.

We just had a celebration for our church, it was the 155 anniversary. The word of God is never-changing, this verse held the same truth for the first attendees at our church when it was first built. As we look at the world today we can see many churches move away from the direct word of God because it doesn’t fit the worldly agenda. Our world has become one that is focused a lot on self and inward pleasures. This is directly opposite of how God wants us to live. Our life is not to radiate our light but the light of Jesus. Trying to get happiness from material pleasures and what makes you feel good in the moment, leads to emptiness in the end. This is the opposite of God’s word and His promises. This is what the verse refers to, All things fade away but God and His word stands forever.
