Movie Review ~ Sound Of Freedom

Disclaimer: Many thanks to Angel Studios for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.

The movie Sound Of Freedom hits the theatres on July 4th! I saw this movie advertised on Facebook since I follow Angel Studios. I posted about the release of this movie in an earlier blog post here. I was ready to support this movie by either viewing it in the theatre or by reviewing it for the blog.

As I did mention in my previous post about this movie, while it is rated PG-13 please remember this is a very mature topic. There are a couple uses of profanity, smoking, drinking, and the subject of sex is mentioned. This movie is based on a true story. Jim Caviezel plays Tim Ballard, a former US government agent that quits his job to rescue children from global sex traffickers.

Sound of Freedom, based on the incredible true story, shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.

The story begins with a woman claiming to be a talent scout, as she talks to a young girl’s father she also convinces him to allow his young son to join an audition. When the father brings his children to the address, he is told he can not stay and to come back several hours later. When he returns he finds the room empty and no sign of his children. Both children, along with about a dozen others are placed in a shipping container and sent to Columbia.

In the United States, US agent Tim Ballard is arresting a child trafficker. In doing so, he rescues a young boy that asks him if he is going to save his sister too. To pursue this mission, Tim quits his job and begins a very risky rescue mission. In his words, God’s Children Are Not For Sale and he gets a small group of people to join him in this rescue. The movie is filled with suspense as Tim Ballard and his group work to rescue children from this life of slavery. As a parent, it absolutely breaks my heart to see such young children treated so poorly. Children rely on adults to protect them and keep them safe, it is horrible adults break this trust.

Angel Studio’s goal for Sound of Freedom is for two million people to go see the film in theaters the week of July 4 to remember the two million children who are trafficked every year. Together we can propel a movement that will save millions of kids around the world. #2MillionFor2Million
